Network of the Three Seas Regions
format of direct cooperation between local governments of the Three Seas Initiative.
Currently, the Network brings together 25 regions from 7 countries (Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine).
Objectives and tasks of the Network
- diminishing infrastructure gaps in Central and Eastern Europe
- building the local and regional government component of the Three Seas Initiative
- development impulse for local and regional governments due to cooperation and establishing permanent connections in the field of infrastructure, transport, digitalization and innovations
- a tool for more effective use of the EU funds, national funds and the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund
- participation in a dynamic process of economic recovery and infrastructural development that connects the Three Seas regions: Via Carpathia, Rail Baltica, Via Baltica, Rail-2-Sea as well as new projects i.e., Rail Carpatia
- promoting entrepreneurship, in particular SMB and international trade
- promoting the development and mutual exchange in the field of culture, art and tourism.
The Agreement of the Network was signed May 17, 2023 in Lublin
The signatories of the agreement are the marshals of five Polish voivodeships: Lubelskie, Mazowieckie, Podkarpackie, Podlaskie and Świętokrzyskie, and the heads of regions from the countries belonging to the Three Seas Initiative: the Lithuanian regions of Alytus, Marjampole and Panevėžys, the Prešov Self – Governing Region from Slovakia, the Hungarian Hajdú-Bihar County and five Romanian counties: Călărași, Caraș Severin, Dolj, Maramureș and Timiș.
During the third edition of the Three Seas Local Government Congress in 2023, also took place the ceremonial admission of new members to the Network: Rivne, Odessa, Khmelnitsky, Transcarpathian and Lviv Oblasts from Ukraine as associated partners, as well as the Regional Development Agency “Centru” from Romania, as a regular member.
